DIY Halloween Trick-or-Treat Bags

diy halloween treat bags
My favorite holiday is coming up, and I cannot wait!! I absolutely love Halloween because it's a time of year when you can be as creative as you want. These midnight DIY trick or treat bags are easy to make and fun to decorate for kids of any age. I call them "midnight" because they require creating art on a black as night background. Or if you're like me, you might find yourself crafting at the stroke of midnight to finish a project! If you make your own, pretty please share them with Lady Lucas and OOLY on Instagram. We would LOVE to see what you come up with!

Materials Needed:

1. Select & Create Your Bag

Select a black paper bag with handles to decorate. You can also staple black paper to a neutral colored bag for the same effect. I used some of the black sheets from The Paper Works Sketchbook, they are perforated and easily tear out. Then simply cut your paper to the size of your bag-front & back and staple or paste in place.

2. Decorate it!

Come up with a concept for your trick or treat bag. Cute candies or a witch trick-or-treaters are just two ideas - but the possibilities are endless! First, glue the paper components to the bag and then let them dry. Circles and other simple shapes work great as candies or pumpkins.

Now comes the fun part! Decorate your trick-or-treat bag using Chunkies Paint Sticks and with the Yummy Yummy Scented Gel Pens you can add fun accents- both of which work awesome on black paper. Draw some sparkly stars or maybe even a neon ghost (that's an idea for you to try!) And now comes my favorite part! Add some tiny stickers to complete your design, small candies look cute in the witch's jack-o-lantern, or scattered on the background of your bag.

3. Personalize it!

Don't forget the back of the bag! This area is a great spot for adding style and text like, 'Trick-or-Treat' or 'Boo'. You can even personalize it with your name!

4. Fill it!

Add more than just candy to your Halloween trick or treat bag. Fill your Midnight Trick-or-Treat Bags with lots of creative goodies. Candy doesn't have to be the only thing! (Surprising, I know!) Some fun fillers are Halloween pencils, stickers, erasers, small toys, or even a cute festive mask.
