Organization

Before school starts we always get organized. We order school supplies; sharpeners, sticky tabs, pencils, erasers, glue, highlighters and paper clips are my friends. These tools are a necessity for back to school. Other organization ideas are doing meal prep so that there’s no surprises the next day in addition to packing backpacks the night before. blue sketchbook with rainbow school supplies all around it on white surface For school supplies, we use Mighty Pencil Sharpeners to sharpen our pencils and Jumbo Juicy Scented Highlighters for highlighting. Note Pals are used for bookmarks, highlighting and staying organized. We also use Stay Sharp Pencils and the Jumbo Rainbow Scented Eraser (which will probably last the whole year). boy in red shirt holding pink popsicle stick that says "read a book"

Color Coding

Kids need their tools to work. Helping kids get organized for school is exciting and helps them to learn organizational skills. We color code a lot of things from folders to book tabs. This year we color coded chores and activities using popsicle sticks. Getting the kids involved and taking charge of their schedule is an important hack for the back to school season. green pencil holder with colorful pens and chunkies paint sticks behind colorful popsicle sticks For this craft, we used popsicle sticks, OOLY Chunkies and Rainbow Sparkle Glitter Markers. We like using Chunkies paint because they are mess free and also dry immediately. Designated School Work Area

We just bought my six-year-old his own desk, just like his brothers from IKEA. Setting up a space that is just for school work can help with focus and getting all tasks accomplished on time. This way, when kids are in their homework station, they know it’s time for school work. It gives them structure too. hands holding rainbow, pencil shaped sticky tabs

Create a Routine

My boys crave a routine because it gives them structure. We have a schedule. We wake up and get dressed and make our bed. Then we do a few simple chores like pick up toys and brush teeth. This is one of the best hacks for the back to school season since it sets the tone for the entire day. They know that there is a step to step process and that they have a structured day. This is really important so they know what is expected of them too. notte pals sticky tabs on blue surface with school supplies in background Other hacks for the back to school season routines include keeping bookmarks and making sure they have organized prior homework.
