Hacks for the Back to School Season
It’s that time of year again! I’ve got some hacks for the back to school season for parents and kids. The hustle and bustle of getting ready for school is in the air. Everyone is searching for new ways to get ahead of the school year before it gets ahead of them!
We all need a little help lately when it comes to our children. Anything to make their life a little easier and fun.
Back to school is an exciting time for both parents and kids. Whether kids are staying home with back to school remotely or in person classes, they need to be prepared.
These hacks the back to school season are about getting organized, creating a designated school work area, color coding, creating a routine and making school supplies fun.
Before school starts we always get organized. We order school supplies; sharpeners, sticky tabs, pencils, erasers, glue, highlighters and paper clips are my friends. These tools are a necessity for back to school. Other organization ideas are doing meal prep so that there’s no surprises the next day in addition to packing backpacks the night before.
For school supplies, we use Mighty Pencil Sharpeners to sharpen our pencils and Jumbo Juicy Scented Highlighters for highlighting. Note Pals are used for bookmarks, highlighting and staying organized. We also use Stay Sharp Pencils and the Jumbo Rainbow Scented Eraser (which will probably last the whole year).
Kids need their tools to work. Helping kids get organized for school is exciting and helps them to learn organizational skills. We color code a lot of things from folders to book tabs. This year we color coded chores and activities using popsicle sticks. Getting the kids involved and taking charge of their schedule is an important hack for the back to school season.
For this craft, we used popsicle sticks, OOLY Chunkies and Rainbow Sparkle Glitter Markers. We like using Chunkies paint because they are mess free and also dry immediately. This is one of the easiest hacks for the back to school season.
Designated School Work Area
We just bought my six-year-old his own desk, just like his brothers from IKEA. Setting up a space that is just for school work can help with focus and getting all tasks accomplished on time. This way, when kids are in their homework station, they know it’s time for school work. It gives them structure too.
Create a Routine
My boys crave a routine because it gives them structure. We have a schedule. We wake up and get dressed and make our bed. Then we do a few simple chores like pick up toys and brush teeth. This is one of the best hacks for the back to school season since it sets the tone for the entire day.
They know that there is a step to step process and that they have a structured day. This is really important so they know what is expected of them too.
Other hacks for the back to school season routines include keeping bookmarks and making sure they have organized prior homework. We do this with Note Pals. Kids work best when there’s an established routine in place as one of the simplest hacks for the back to school season. The Note Pals help your kids learn to plan ahead so they will be able to effectively manage their time when going back to their homework.
Make School Supplies Fun
We love getting our supplies. It’s fun to choose different colors and tools for school work. OOLY also makes it fun to get our art supplies too. My kids thrive using OOLY products when it comes to their imagination, especially for these hacks for the back to school season. They have fun when learning because they have tools to make it exciting and they have fun creating projects because there are so many options to choose from to create their happy!
This is an exciting and unpredictable time for our children. We have the tools to make it happen a little more smoothly. What are your tools and hacks for the back to school season?
