This easy art project for kids (or adults!) is a great way to spend some quality time together. So let’s get started – your new favorite notebook awaits!

Time Duration: 30 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Supplies:

Directions:

Blue gel pen on top of brown sketchbook with three clouds drawn in different corners

Step 1: Create the backdrop for your rainbow art by drawing three fluffy clouds on the White DIY Cover Sketchbook using the blue gel pen from Color Luxe Gel Pens.

Step 2: Break out the ROYGBIV and grab your rainbow colors. I’m using a little creative license and will be creating my rainbow with red, orange, yellow, lime green, turquoise, and purple.

Step 3: The most important thing to keep in mind is that a rainbow can take on whatever shape you can imagine. I’m starting with a traditional arch,  drawing the first rainbow intersecting the cloud on the bottom. Draw two lines in each color and thicken them as you go to really make them pop.

Step 4: Now I’m going to draw a curvy rainbow at the top of the page. Just like with my traditional arch, I’m using two lines per color and thickening the lines as I go.

Step 5: For my final rainbow, I’m going to draw a sideways double rainbow on the right – almost like a funky, little “m”.

Step 6: Finally, add any other details or personal touches you like, and don’t forget to sign your name to make it truly yours!

Congrats! You’ve successfully created a completely custom sketchbook cover. What better way to remind you of your creative genius everytime you’re ready to create? Line art makes for a really fun and easy craft for kids, but it really is just a fun art activity no matter your age.
