Watercolor Nature Painting On The Go

Watercolor nature painting is a fantastic way to get a masterpiece result without a ton of training or practice. The Chroma Blends Travel Watercolor Palette is a portable solution to painting on the go. We recently took our eighth grade Girl Scout troop to Santa Fe, New Mexico where there are lots and lots of artist studios. Our day was spent in the Canyon Road area and we were blown away by the talented artists and their works. A sculpture garden where we had time to get out our travel watercolor palettes and paint was perfect for us. The girls used the inspiration from their day and the beauty of the gardens to get started. Water brushes have barrels that can be filled with water so you don't have to take a cup of water with you. Also the brushes feature 2 different brush tips, rounded and flat; lending themselves to creating different textures & strokes. And the lid of the watercolors kit doubles as your palette for mixing colors. The Chroma Blends Watercolor Paper is so thick and wonderful that one sheet works like a canvas! Watercolors Are A Good Way to Start Painting

Watercolor paints are good for beginning artists because the colors are vivid and they blend easily. If you are feeling a bit unsure before putting paint to paper, you can draw your vision lightly with a drawing pencil that has soft lead. We all felt successful and were excited to share masterpieces and the stories about what inspired each of us to paint what we did in the garden. The completed works went home with the girls and several were framed by proud parents. Watercolor painting with a creek in the background The girls were so proud of their paintings.

A few of the girls have tips to share about watercolor nature painting.

  1. Have a form of inspiration before starting.
  2. Paint in a peaceful place. If it loud or disruptive, wear headphones with calm music.
  3. Do your own thing. Your painting will be a reflection of your own self.
  4. Use the colors you love most and don’t be afraid to mix them.
